Richard Gatenby
Arrived at Barnsley in 1999 to be Charles Verey's Head Gardener, his parents Rosemary and David Verey created the garden at Barnsley. To secure the job Richard first had to  be interviewed  by Charles and then by Mrs Verey (Rosemary).

Jennifer (Jen') Danbury
Comes to us from Highgrove , also in Gloucestershire where she was the Ornamental Gardener responsible for the pots and plantings around the house itself.


Eleanor James
Having worked as a volunteer at Barnsley Eleanor graduated from Lackham College, in Wiltshire, this year and we snapped her up. Vegetables are her thing.

Andrew Leat
A former British Tumbling Champion! Our new team member that's starting out in his chosen career as a gardener.

Tony Verey
Mrs. Verey's grandson who like Ann and Richard  goes back to the old days. Tony is head stockman of the Barnsley Hens.
Part Time.

Ann Farnsworth
When Mrs Verey was in charge Ann would be based in the old potting shed and would take cuttings, sow seeds and pot on as well as taking the gate money. Ann is now our resident florist. Bakes the best Victoria sponge ever!

Catherine Blissett
RHS trained and is no stranger to the hospitality industry, worked as a gardener at The Grove in Hertfordshire.
