Arrived at Barnsley in 1999 to be Charles Verey's Head Gardener, his parents Rosemary and David Verey created the garden at Barnsley. To secure the job Richard first had to be interviewed by Charles and then by Mrs Verey (Rosemary).

Comes to us from Highgrove , also in Gloucestershire where she was the Ornamental Gardener responsible for the pots and plantings around the house itself.
Having worked as a volunteer at Barnsley Eleanor graduated from Lackham College, in Wiltshire, this year and we snapped her up. Vegetables are her thing.

Mrs. Verey's grandson who like Ann and Richard goes back to the old days. Tony is head stockman of the Barnsley Hens.
When Mrs Verey was in charge Ann would be based in the old potting shed and would take cuttings, sow seeds and pot on as well as taking the gate money. Ann is now our resident florist. Bakes the best Victoria sponge ever!
